week 19

Week Nineteen
Your baby has the same awake and sleep patterns of a newborn. He has a favorite position for sleep and recognizable active and rest periods.
Throughout baby's body, nerves are being coated with a fatty substance called myelin, which insulates the nerves so that impulses can flow smoothly.
Scalp hair becomes apparent this week. It has sprouted and continues to grow.
The milk teeth buds have already developed and over the next few days the buds for the permanent teeth will begin to form behind the milk teeth.
If baby is female the uterus starts to develop. If you're having a girl, the vagina, uterus, and fallopian tubes are in place.
If it's a boy, the genitals are distinct and recognizable.
Your baby is swallowing amniotic fluid and his or her kidneys are making urine.
Your little one's size is around 6.02 inches (15.3cm) and 8.47 ounces (240gm).

week 18-19

Well ive been feeling the little kid kickin around in there this past week or two,and let me tell ya,it is the weirdest feeling.very cool, but kinda creepy to have a living thing wiggling around inside your stomach.i havent quite gotten used to the sensation, but it usually makes me smile.last night i laid awake for a couple hours and every time i tried to sleep the little jumper would wake me up.(: we have about two and a half weeks left till our half-way ultrasound,at which point we will find out the sex of the baby.oct.10th is the big day...hey!thats reb's B-day!

Week 18: Baby begins to hear
As the nerve endings from your baby's brain "hook up" to the ears, your baby may hear your heart beating, your stomach rumbling or blood moving through the umbilical cord. He or she may even be startled by loud noises. Your baby can swallow this week, too.
Week 19: Lanugo covers baby's skin
Your baby's delicate skin is now protected with a pasty white coating called vernix. Under the vernix, a fine, down-like hair called lanugo covers your baby's body.
Your baby's kidneys are already producing urine. The urine is excreted into the amniotic sac, which surrounds and protects your baby.
As your baby's hearing continues to improve, he or she may pick up your voice in conversations — although it's probably hard to hear clearly through the amniotic fluid and protective paste covering your baby's ears.
Thanks to the millions of motor neurons developing in the brain, your baby can make reflexive muscle movements. If you haven't felt movement yet, you will soon.

WEEK 17-18

Week 17: Fat accumulates
Fat stores begin to develop under your baby's skin this week. The fat will provide energy and help keep your baby warm after birth.
Week 18: Baby begins to hear
As the nerve endings from your baby's brain "hook up" to the ears, your baby may hear your heart beating, your stomach rumbling or blood moving through the umbilical cord. He or she may even be startled by loud noises. Your baby can swallow this week, too.

Week 17
How Big is the Baby at 17 Weeks Pregnant?Your baby is anywhere from 4.4 to 4.8 inches by pregnancy week 17 and weighs almost 3 ½ ounces! If you were to hold your baby at 17 weeks pregnant, she would fit snuggly in the palm of your hand. Your baby is about the size of a small pomegranate by pregnancy 17 weeks.
Your Baby's Growth and DevelopmentYour baby during week 17 is now very mobile, gleefully moving his joints here, there and everywhere and will continue to do so as you continue your pregnancy week by week. The cartilage making up the skeleton in your baby's body is starting to transform into bone. At pregnancy 17 weeks time your baby should be hearing things. Your baby will start putting on some layers of fat in the weeks to come, though at this point in time your baby is made up of primarily water.
You may be feeling your baby move intermittently after pregnancy week 17, though as your pregnancy progresses you will likely start feeling your baby move more and more.

Baby has acquired the reflex of suction. If a bitter solution is introduced into the amniotic fluid, all swallowing will stop, however, if a sugary solution is introduced, your baby swallows twice as fast as before!

The baby can also get the hiccups just about now.

Baby reacts to visual stimulations. It will use the hands to protect the eyes from violent external light.

Your baby is moving around a lot. It has more space now and will spin around and around and around... You maybe can feel it stronger now.

week 15-16

Sixteen weeks into your pregnancy, your baby is between 4 and 5 inches long and weighs a bit less than 3 ounces. He or she can now make a fist.
Your baby's eyes are becoming sensitive to light. More developed facial muscles may lead to various expressions, such as squinting and frowning. Your baby may have frequent bouts of hiccups as well. For girls, millions of eggs are forming in the ovaries.
